SteelOrbis Shanghai On January 7, 2007, Hebei Province-based Tangshan Steel halted medium plate production for overhauling work, which is planned to last for 15 days and is expected to cause a fall in production of around 50,000 mt. Meanwhile, Shanxi Province-based Linfen Steel is scheduled to begin overhauling its medium plate line on January 15, continuing for 21 days and causing an estimated production drop of 30,000-40,000 mt. Since Tangshan Steel is one of the major suppliers in northern China, its overhauling work is bound to affect the market in this region. Linfen Steel's overhaul, on the other hand, will merely result in some slight price fluctuations in its neighboring areas.
