In December last year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) imports decreased by 15.6 percent year on year to 298,346 metric tons, up 29 percent compared to November, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These imports had a value of $127.9 million, rising by 31.6 percent month on month and up 14.6 percent year on year.
Last year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 3.63 million mt, rising by 1.05 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 10.55 percent to $1.34 billion, both compared to the same period of the previous year.
In 2016, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 1,553,430 mt, up 0.57 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, followed by Ukraine which shipped 303,958 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
