In March this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) imports increased by 24.4 percent year on year to 291,737 metric tons, up 6.3 percent compared to February , according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These imports had a value of $175.6 million, rising by 11 percent month on month and down 9.7 percent year on year.
In the first quarter of the current year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 938,590 mt, down 2.4 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 16.7 percent to $544 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 344,571 mt, down 45.11 percent year on year, followed by Ukraine which shipped 136,780 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
