Turkish HRC import volume down 14.7 percent in Q1

In March this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) imports increased by 6.2 percent year on year to 386,013 metric tons, up 45 percent compared to February, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These imports had a value of $194.5 million, rising by 48.7 percent month on month and up 78.2 percent year on year.

In the first quarter of the current year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 961,309 mt, down 14.7 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 36.3 percent to $466 million, both year on year.
 
In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 627,715 mt, up 41.27 percent year on year, followed by Brazil which shipped 75,809 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
