Turkish consumer confidence down 1.64 percent in July over June

According to the monthly consumer tendency survey released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the consumer confidence index* in Turkey, which stood at 96.42 points in June this year, declined by 1.64 percent month on month in July, decreasing to 94.83 points.

According to the indices based on individual questions asked of Turkish consumers concerning the consumer tendency, in July this year the index for the general current economic situation decreased by 1.56 percent, while the index for the general economic situation in the next three months fell by 1.68 percent, both compared to June.

Meanwhile, in July, the index for the probability of buying durable goods in the next six months decreased by 4.81 percent, the index for the probability of buying a car in the next six months fell by 0.74 percent and the index for the probability of buying or building a home in the next 12 months declined by 0.55 percent.
 
* When the index is above 100 it indicates an optimistic outlook, when it is equal to 100 it indicates a neutral outlook, and below 100 it points to a pessimistic outlook.
