Turkey’s seamless pipe imports down 25.6 percent in October

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in October this year Turkey's seamless pipe imports rose 35.7 percent compared to September this year, which recorded the lowest level since October 2010, and were down 25.6 percent compared to October 2011, amounting to 15,105 metric tons. The value of these imports totaled $21.2 million, increasing 19.8 percent compared to September and down 30.4 percent year on year.

In the first 10 months of the year, Turkey's seamless pipe imports amounted to 166,065 metric tons, decreasing 12.1 percent compared to the same period of 2011. The value of these imports came to $240 million, decreasing by 18.2 percent year on year.

Imports from China in the period in question amounted to 77,850 metric tons, up 31.6 percent year on year, while Russia followed China, exporting 21,400 mt of seamless pipe to Turkey in the January-October period of this year, decreasing by 45.6 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
