Turkey’s pig iron imports up 7.6 percent in September

According to the customs statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 72,440 metric tons, decreasing by 54.66 percent as compared to August this year and up 7.6 percent compared to the same month last year.

In September, Turkey's average pig iron import price stood at $536.78/mt, decreasing by 0.5 percent or $2.66/mt compared to the previous month, and up $76.63/mt or 16.65 percent compared to the same month last year.

In the January-September period of the current year, Turkey imported 781,819 mt of pig iron with an average import price of $534/mt.

Turkey's top pig iron source in September this year was Ukraine which exported 57,024 mt of pig iron to Turkey, with an increase of 4.2 percent compared to August this year and up 93.58 compared to September 2010.
