In October this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) exports more than doubled with an increase of 112 percent year on year to 116,489 metric tons, while rising by 4.6 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These exports had a value of $70.65 million, up 169.1 percent year on year and rising by 7.2 percent compared to September.
Meanwhile, in the January-October this year, Turkey's HRC exports decreased by 3.78 percent to 1.07 million mt, while the value of these exports fell five percent to $625.46 million, both on year-on-year basis.
In the first 10 months, the US ranked first among Turkey's HRC export destinations, increasing its HRC imports from Turkey by eight-fold (up 705 percent) year on year to 312,712 mt, while Turkey's HRC exports to Italy, which was the leading destination in 2013, decreased by 73.2 percent year on year to 114,910 mt. In October alone, the Canada ranked first among Turkey's HRC export destinations, receiving 39,610 mt.
