In August this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) exports increased by 34.8 percent year on year to 73,618 metric tons, while decreasing by 18.5 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These exports had a value of $44.76 million, increasing by 49.5 percent year on year and down by 12.8 percent compared to July.
Meanwhile, in the January-August this year, Turkey's HRC exports decreased by 16.4 percent to 847,601 mt, while the value of these exports fell 18 percent to $492.47 million, both on year-on-year basis.
In the first eight months, the US ranked first among Turkey's HRC export destinations, increasing its HRC imports from Turkey by 512.7 percent year on year to 237,170 mt, while Turkey's HRC exports to Italy, which was the leading destination in 2013, decreased by 74 percent year on year to 104,688 mt. In the given period, Turkey's HRC exports to Portugal decreased by 67.4 year on year to 53,468 mt.
