TUIK: Turkey’s steel export value up 19.4 percent in January-June

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in June this year Turkey’s foreign trade deficit increased by 10.8 percent to $5.87 billion compared to June 2023. In the January-June period this year, Turkey’s foreign trade deficit went down by 30.5 percent year on year to $42.59 billion.

In June, Turkey’s iron and steel exports ranked fifth among the country’s products with the highest export value, totaling $862.75 million, up by 10.9 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given month the value of exports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked ninth among the products with the highest export value, went down by 15.2 percent year on year, amounting to $730.58 million.

In the first half this year, Turkey’s iron and steel export value was up by 19.4 percent to $5.02 billion, while the value of its exports of articles of iron or steel decreased by 3.5 percent to $4.80 billion, both year on year.
