US President Donald Trump has tweeted, “Tariffs on the “dumping” of steel in the United States have totally revived our steel industry. New and expanded plants are happening all over the US We have not only saved this important industry, but created many jobs. Also, billions paid to our treasury. A BIG WIN FOR US”. The tweet came a week after the US steel industry discussed the pros and cons of the Section 232 tariffs at the SteelOrbis’ 10th Annual Rebar & Wire Rod Conference in Las Vegas, with steelmakers supporting it, while buyers mostly expressed concerns that the tariffs will come back to hurt the domestic steel industry.

Meanwhile, according to Bloomberg, the World Trade Organization has launched an investigation into the US tariffs on $250 billion of Chinese goods, as the two countries are about to hold a new round of trade talks.
