Russia's largest oil and gas pipe producer TMK has announced that it has started shipments of longitudinal welded large diameter (LD) pipes to Russian state-owned oil transportation company Transneft for the construction of the Purpe-Samotlor trunk pipeline system.
Accordingly, in April this year TMK supplied for Transneft' Purpe-Samotlor oil pipeline about 4,800 mt of K56 longitudinal welded pipes of 1,020 mm diameter and of 12 mm, 14 mm and 17 mm wall thickness, and with external three-layer insulating coating, produced at TMK subsidiary Volzhsky Pipe Plant.
The 430 km Purpe-Samotlor pipeline is scheduled to be commissioned in 2012, and will speed up oil deliveries to China from the huge Vankor oilfield in the Arctic, which belongs to Russian state-run oil company Rosneft.
For the construction of the Purpe-Samotlor pipeline, in 2010 TMK will deliver to Transneft more than 32,000 mt of longitudinal welded LD pipes. Shipments are scheduled to be carried out from April to October this year.
