Russian steelmaker MMK Group has announced that its galvanized pipe production reached an all-time high in 2025, totaling close to 18,000 mt. This represents the highest annual output since the launch of the hot dip galvanizing unit at sheet rolling shop No. 8.
The 2025 result exceeded the previous record of 17,400 mt achieved in 2024 by approximately 3.4 percent.
Galvanizing line operations and product characteristics
The automated hot dip galvanizing line for electric-welded water and gas pipes has been in continuous operation since 2001. Coating thickness on the line is adjusted in accordance with production programs and specific customer requirements.
According to the company, hot dip galvanized pipes with anti-corrosion protection offer durability that is estimated to be two to two-and-a-half times higher than that of conventional pipes. Their enhanced resistance to corrosion significantly expands their application range, supporting steadily rising demand.
Digitalization and process optimization
During 2025, sheet rolling shop No. 8 also implemented an intelligent monitoring system for galvanized pipe production. The digital solution incorporates artificial intelligence and machine vision technologies aimed at streamlining operations and improving customer service.
The system is capable of identifying pipes of different diameters and counting finished products with an accuracy of up to 99.6 percent.
