Thailand’s Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) has announced that it has started an antidumping (AD) duty investigation on certain welded steel pipe imports from Vietnam.

The investigation was initiated following a petition lodged by local steelmakers Cotcometalworks Co., Ltd., Thai Metal (TMT) Co., Pacific Pipe Co., Ltd. (PAP), Asia Metal Co., Ltd. (AMC) and Thai Coon Steel Co., Ltd.

The local Thai steelmakers claimed that the imports of the products being investigated are increasing in quantity and being dumped in the Thai market, causing significant injury to the domestic industry.
