The CEO of TenarisTamsa, Sergio Jiménez de la Maza, told media this week that the drop in international oil prices have affected demand for the company’s steel pipes, but so far agreements with export customers have sustained.

"Many oil companies are reviewing their investment plans and we will surely see some involvement in the requirement of our products,” he said. "I think it will reduce future investment plans, which are already believed to be preserved and that will depend on how the price moves in the coming weeks or months.”

He added that it is considered premature to talk about the affect of the oil trend on demand for pipe and tube in hard figures, preferring to wait a few weeks to see if oil prices stablize.
