Tangshan Steel's 2006 crude steel output exceeds 12 million mt

SteelOrbis Shanghai In 2006, Hebei Province-based Tangshan Steel Co Ltd broke historical annual output records in all its major product categories. During last year, Tangshan Steel's crude steel output rose 19.25 percent year on year to 12.0048 million mt; iron output totaled 11.1199 million mt, up 21.98 percent; finally, the mill's finished steel output reached 10.2008 million mt, up 14.06 percent year on year. Tangshan Steel's sales revenues for 2006 are estimated at RMB 33 billion ($4.23 billion), up 9.22 percent year on year, with estimated profits rising 20.62 percent to RMB 2.25 billion ($290 million). HR sheet production at Tangshan Steel reached 3.83 million mt, accounting for 37.85 percent of total finished steel output, up 3.88 percentage points compared with the previous year. Meanwhile, the northern Chinese mill's CR sheet production totaled 931,000 mt, up a massive 465 percent year on year. Tangshan Steel's comprehensive energy consumption per ton of steel in 2006 reached 596 ktce/t, down 21 kgce/t year on year. The comprehensive energy consumption per comparable ton reached 570 ktce/t, down 13 kgce/t. Fresh water consumption per ton of steel reached 4.17 tons, down 0.36 tons. Finally, the up-to-standard rate for comprehensive pollutant discharge rose 0.1 percentage point in 2006 to 96.81 percent.
