Swiss trade surplus falls in December

Switzerland's trade balance reported a surplus of CHF 120 million (approx. $100 million) in December compared to CHF 1.26 billion surplus in November, the Federal Customs Office said. Exports rose 7.3% year-on-year to CHF 11.02 billion in December while imports rose 1.8% to CHF 10.9 billion. For the whole of 2004, Switzerland posted a trade surplus of CHF 9.31 billion, with CHF 141.7 billion exports and CHF 132.4 billion imports.
