South Africa to impose 10 percent import duty on steel products

The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA) has announced that the South African government will impose a 10 percent import duty on steel products in response to the steel industry's request. The required documents will be signed next week, the industry body said.
 
The import duty rate is in line with World Trade Organization (WTO) rules allowing countries to increase duties by up to 10 percent.
 
On the other hand, ArcelorMittal South Africa will submit five antidumping duty applications by the end of August and will try every channel to fast track any provisional antidumping duties or safeguard measure.
