German plantmaker SMS Siemag has announced that it has completed the upgrade of the converter and the continuous caster of German-based steel producer Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH.
In order to improve the metallurgical process, the specific volume of the converter in question was increased by approximately 25 percent. The plantmaker also replaced the ladle turret of the continuous caster.
Salzgitter Flachstahl also ordered a mechanical relining device which is scheduled for commissioning in the current month.
