Skyline Steel Pipe opens spiral weld pipe plant
Skyline Steel Pipe Group officially opened its new spiral weld pipe manufacturing facility Tuesday in Iuka, Mississippi. The $17 million state-of-the-art facility has an expected annual capacity of 40,000 net tons of pipe per year. The plant, which includes three lines, will produce spiral weld pipe, which is used for heavy construction foundations, including skyscrapers and bridges. VP of Skyline's Pipe Group Tom Madison told press that the plant's location in Iuka is ideal because it is on the water, has rail service, and is centrally located for easy access to the company's customers. Skyline Steel is the largest producer of steel foundation products in North America, with six manufacturing and fabrication plants. The company is part of Arcelor, the world's second-largest steelmaker.
