Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S) has announced the receipt of an order from Vietnam's leading structural steelmaker Thep Viet Steel Co. Ltd. for the equipment for a new bar mill which is currently under construction in the southeastern Vietnamese province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The order in question, which is worth a two-digit million euro figure, covers the supply of the mechanical components as well as the electrical and automation systems.

The new 450,000 mt per annum bar mill is planned to become operative in mid-2009 and is foreseen to lessen Vietnam's dependence on imported steel products.
