Shougang Hierro Peru produced no iron ore in April

Peru’s key iron ore producer, Shougang Hierro Peru, did not produce any of the commodity in April, as it halted operations due to Covid-19, SteelOrbis has learned.

According to data released by the Peruvian ministry of mines and energy, Minem, Peru in comparison produced 461,505 mt in March 2020 before halting operations on March 16, and 559,443 mt in April 2019.

Including zero production in April, Peruvian iron ore production in the accumulated period of January to April was 2.43 million mt, 4.3 percent down, year-on-year.
