Peruvian iron ore producer Shougang Hierro Peru has halted mining activities, SteelOrbis has learned, as the country renewed a nationwide lockdown until April 12.

A notice at Shougang Hierro Peru’s Facebook page said the company forbid meetings and work as well as any administrative activities following the nation’s first decree ordering a lockdown in mid-March.

A media report by Gestion said companies like Aceros Arequipa are allowed to import raw materials, such as iron ore. Gerdau’s Peruvian steelmaker, Siderperu, also halted operations due to the government Covid-19 decree.
