Shagang sets finished steel sales target of 23.3 million mt for 2010

Looking to boost its competitiveness, China's Jiangsu Province-based steel producer Shagang has set a sales target of 23.3 million mt of finished steel for 2010, including 5 million mt of rebar, 4.15 million mt of wire rod, 7.4 million mt of coils, 2.47 million mt of wide and heavy plate and 4.28 million mt of other steel products.

In comparison, Shagang sold 15.45 million mt of finished steel in 2009. Broken down into the various product categories, the producer's rebar sales totaled 5.27 million mt during the past year, up 21.8 percent year on year; wire rod sales reached 3.93 million mt, up 10.6 percent; HRC sales came to 4.66 million mt, up 14.5 percent, sales of wide and heavy plate totaled 1.52 million mt, up 10.9 percent; and galvanized coils sales amounted to 70,000 mt, up 16.7 percent year on year.
