Severstal-Evraz merger report denied

The two major Russian steelmakers, Severstal and Evraz Holding, are not planning a merger, said the general manager of the Severstal Group Alexei Mordashev recently. Mr. Mordashev stated that Severstal neither had any obligations towards Evraz nor was conducting merger negotiations with it. Roman Abramovich, who is the major shareholder in Millhouse - the company which holds a 82.67 percent stake in Evraz Holding - has confirmed that the two companies have no plans to merge.
