The construction of the second phase of the new bar rolling mill in the town of Abinsk, Krasnodar region, Russia is planned to start at the end of 2010.
According to Krasnodar region's department of investments and project support, the second phase of the Abinsk electrometallurgical mill will have a capacity of 1.3 million mt of steel billets per year, while the investments in the construction will amount to Ruble 6 billion (about $194 million).
As SteelOrbis previously reported, the first phase of the Abinsk electrometallurgical mill with a capacity of 500,000 mt of long rolled products was commissioned in late July this year, with investments exceeding Ruble 5 billion (about $161 million).
During its first month of operation, Abinsk electrometallurgical mill produced 3,700 mt of rebar, with the first batch of products being delivered to Krasnodar's industry and construction sectors. The construction of the mill was initiated by the Russian metallurgical company Novorosmetall.
