In 2010, the Russian steel producer Rostov Electrometallurgical Works (REMZ), the Rostov-based subsidiary of the Russian steel producer ESTAR, increased its steel billet output by 76 percent compared to 2009 to 675,400 mt.

In 2011, REMZ plans to expand its product range, following the commissioning of its new rolling mill for the production of wire rod, wire and rebar, the installation of which is in fact the second stage of the construction of REMZ. The pre-commissioning works at the new rolling mill are scheduled for the first quarter of 2011.

REMZ is specialized in the production of steel billets and has an annual capacity of 730,000 mt. Having started its production operations on January 25, 2008, the plant produced its one millionth metric ton of steel on May 5, 2010.
