SAIL plans to double its capacity

According to recent news in the market, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) is planning to double its capacity by 2010-2011. The company reported its production in 2003-2004 fiscal as 11 million tons. The targeted capacity is around 20 million tons. An official from SAIL stated that the company is working on a project to restructure its finances with the purpose of reducing debts and increase profitability. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, SAIL was planning to expand its capacity through perspective plan, which is to be completed in two-month's time. Moreover, SAIL is planning to increase capacity of Bhilai plant by 800'000 tons in the current fiscal. Besides, the company considers upgrading its other plants.
