Finnish steelmaker Rautaruukki (Ruukki) has announced that it has signed a €10 million contract with Finland-based stainless steel producer Outokumpu to manufacture and install steel structures for the ferrochrome smelter at its Tornio Works in Finland.

Accordingly, Outokumpu plans to double its ferrochrome production capacity in Finland, while the new smelter will enable the production of high-quality ferrochrome with minimal emissions and efficiency of energy consumption.

Deliveries will commence in March this year and the installation work is scheduled to be completed in January 2012. The steel structures will be manufactured mostly at Ruukki's Ylivieska works in Finland.
