Entailing an investment of around RUB 37 billion ($415.14 million), the works on its blast furnace No. 5, continue successfully and about 37 percent of them are completed. The company has already started installing new structures, following the dismantling of obsolete structures and equipment.

This way, Severstal plans to reduce its carbon emissions from steel production by 10 percent of 2020 levels by 2030.

Having a pig iron production capacity of 4.2 million mt per year, the blast furnace No. 5 is not only the largest unit of the plant, but also in the Russian steel sector.
