One of the largest Russian pipe producers, ChTPZ Group, which consists of Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) and Pervouralsky Novotrubny Works (PNTZ), has announced that in the first month of 2010 it registered a 40.9 percent increase year on year in its pipe deliveries to 95,800 metric tons.
The year-on-year increase in the group's January pipe shipments was due to the general improvement of the pipe market and to the start of the Transneft oil pipeline projects, East Siberia-Pacific Ocean-2 and Baltic Pipeline System-2, for which in January ChTPZ Group delivered 13,600 mt of large diameter pipes.
In particular, in January the pipe deliveries of ChTPZ amounted to 52,700 mt - up 24 percent year on year, including 35,600 mt of large diameter pipes - up 19 percent year on year.
On the other hand, PNTZ's pipe shipments in January this year amounted to 43,000 mt - up 69 percent compared to January 2009.
