Russian production of pig iron in January-May
According to the data of Rudprom, the Association of Russian Iron Ore Producers, Russian metallurgical enterprises increased pig iron production by 7.3 percent year on year to 21.86 million tons in January-May of 2006. In particular, during the given period, Severstal raised the production of pig iron by 15.4 percent, MMK raised the production of pig iron by 5.9 percent, ZapSib raised the production of pig iron by 23.6 percent and NLMK raised the production of pig iron by 13.8 percent. During January-May of 2006, the decrease in the pig iron production was reported by NTMK, as 4.7 percent, Ural Steel, as 2.6 percent, and as Novokuznetsk Iron and Steel Works, as 10.1 percent from the same period of last year.
