Russian pipemakers plan to up output by 5-10 percent in 2011

The Russian pipe producers TMK Group (TMK) and United Metallurgical Company (OMK) plan in 2011 to increase their pipe output by 7-9 percent and 5-10 percent respectively, said the companies' representatives on Wednesday at a briefing on the results of domestic pipe industry modernization, organized by the Russian Tube and Pipe Industry Development Fund (FRTP), the Interfax-Ukraine news agency has reported.

In 2010, TMK expects to produce 3.95 million mt of pipes, including 650,000 mt of large diameter (LD) pipes. OMK produced two million mt of pipes in the current year, including 1.3 million mt of LD pipes.

In addition, another Russian pipemaker Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) said that in 2010 it will produce 1.45 million mt of pipes, including 600,000 mt of LD pipes, and that in the next year it also hopes to increase its pipe output.
