Rio Tinto's iron ore output on track
Australian mining group Rio Tinto disclosed that its iron ore production indicated a record level in the second quarter of 2006, as the expansion program provided additional capacity. Rio Tinto's iron ore production in the second quarter rose 4 percent compared to the second quarter of 2005 and up 16 percent compered to the previous quarter. “The operations in Western Australia recovered from the severe weather conditions experienced during the first quarter, although the impact on iron ore production continued into the second quarter,” said Rio Tinto.
