Rig counts rise in the US and Canada

Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending November 16, the US rig count increased by three to 1,809, following a six-rig increase a week ago and declines in the two prior weeks. Year-on-year, the US rig count was down 192. Rigs drilling for oil rose by one to 1,390, and gas-directed drilling rigs increased by four to 417.

Canada's rig count increased by 14 to 384, but is down 103 on a year-on-year basis.
