Rig counts in US boost, drop in Canada

According to the most recent report by Baker Hughes, for the week ending September 16, the US rotary rig count increased by 27 from the previous week to 1,985. This reflects a year-on-year increase of 324 rigs.

Gas rigs led the boost in total US rig counts, jumping 20 from last week (but still down 70 year-on-year); oil rigs were up five (and up 392 year-on-year).

On the other hand, the Canadian rig count fell and is down 13 in the last week to 502, while still representing a year-on-year increase of 169 rigs.
