Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending March 15, the US rig count increased by 24 to 1,776, following decreases in the prior two weeks. During the week, the oil rig count was stable at 1,341 while the gas-directed rig count accounted for the full overall increase with a 24-rig rise to 431.

On the other hand, Canada's rig count fell by 77 to 503 rigs, following a 75-rig decrease a week ago. Year-on-year, the rig count was down by 14.
