Rig count falls in US but continues to increase in Canada

Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending June 7, the US rig count was down six from the previous week to 1,765, following a nine-rig increase a week ago. The rig count was also down 219 rigs from the same week a year ago when active drilling rigs totaled 1,984. Oil rigs fell by four to 1,406 while the gas rig count was unchanged for the third consecutive week at 354.

Meanwhile, in Canada, the rig count increased by seven to 152, the third consecutive weekly increase, but still down 78 from the same week a year ago.
