Upon German weekly WirtschaftsWoche reporting that the South Korean steelmaker POSCO is interested in buying German steel giant ThyssenKrupp's steel plants located in the US and Brazil, POSCO has denied the reports.

The South Korean steelmaker has said that it is not considering acquisition and it has not received an offer to buy the plants, according to media reports.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, in May, ThyssenKrupp announced that it is seeking a partner or buyer for its stake in the Brazil-based slab venture Companhia Siderúrgica do Atlântico (CSA) and a sister mill in the southern US. Brazilian steelmakers Usiminas and Gerdau stated that they were not interested in buying ThyssenKrupp's 73.1 percent stake in CSA.
