Peruvian iron ore production increases 5.1 percent in December

Peruvian iron ore production in December rose 5.1 percent, year-on-year, according to data released by the local ministry of energy and mines, Minem. Output in December totaled 895,943 mt, up from 852,396 mt in December 2017.

Minem said local producer Shougang Hierro Peru accounted for 851,685 mt of December 2018’s total production. Shougang Hierro Peru is the nation’s largest iron ore producer.

As for the full year of 2018, Peruvian iron ore production reached 9.53 million mt, 8.2 percent up, year-on-year.
