Peruvian iron ore export prices see strong increase in June

Peruvian iron ore prices in June increased strongly by 161.3 percent, year-on-year, to $84.7/mt FOB, reaching the highest level thus far in the year, according to local central bank, BCRP. Peruvian iron ore export prices in June also rose from $74.7/mt FOB in May.

Peruvian iron ore export prices have been on an increasing trend since March this year, when the commodity export price reached $48/mt FOB. Prices then improved to $64.9/mt FOB in April, $74.7/mt FOB in May, and $84.7/mt FOB in June.

BCRP said Peruvian iron ore export volumes in June totaled 900,000 mt, slightly down from 1 million mt in June 2018.
