Peruvian iron ore export prices spike in January

Peruvian iron ore export prices in January surged 52 percent, year-on-year, according to a report from the nation’s central bank, BCRP.

Peruvian iron ore export prices in January reached $47.3/mt FOB, up from $31.1/mt FOB in January 2018, and 40.3 percent up, month-on-month, from $33.7/mt FOB in December 2018.

BCRP said Peruvian iron ore export volumes in January reached 1.4 million mt, slightly down from 1.5 million mt in January 2018 and also down from 1.7 million mt in December 2018.
