Peruvian iron ore export prices up in December

Peruvian iron ore export prices rose over 100 percent in December, year-on-year, according to figures released by the country’s central bank, BCRP.
 
Peruvian iron ore export prices in December reached $47.5/mt, up from $23.6/mt in December 2015. When compared to November, Peruvian iron ore export prices improved 14.8 percent, month-on-month.
 
Peruvian iron ore export prices reached their 2016 peak in December, recovering from price levels at $19.8/mt in January, $22.7/mt in June, and $25.9/mt in October.
 
Iron ore export volumes in December 2016 totaled 600,000 mt, down from 800,000 mt in December 2015, and down from 1.1 million mt in November 2016.
