Peruvian iron ore export prices dropped 31 percent in October, month-on-month, to $25.9/mt from $37.5/mt in September, when the commodity’s export prices reached the year’s peak, according to a report from Peru’s central bank, BCRP.
As for the year-on-year comparison, October’s figures indicate a 3.2 percent increase from $25.1/mt in October 2015.
According to BCRP, October’s iron ore export volumes totaled 600,000 mt, up from 400,000 mt in September this year, but down from 1.2 million mt in October 2015.
Peruvian iron ore export prices were previously on an increasing trend since June this year.
