On January 18, SteelOrbis reported Outokumpu’s expansion of stainless steel rebar capabilities that allowed it to fully domestically produce stainless rebar for customers in the US and Canada.
According to a recent press release, Outokumpu has enhanced its stainless bar production capabilities at its Richburg, South Carolina facility. New capabilities include a new coil-to-bar peeling line and full reinforcement bar capabilities.

The new lines enable Outokumpu to expand services to end-customers in automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, construction and chemical processing industries in the North American market. The investment also increases Outokumpu’s stainless bar production capacity by more than 15,000/mt annually.
