OMK issues 2008 production data for subsidiaries

The Russian pipe producing company United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced the production results for 2008 of its subsidiaries Urals area-based Chusovoy Steel Works (Chusovoy), Nizhni Novgorod-based pipe producer Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) and Perm region-based Gubakha Coke.

In 2008, Chusovoy recorded a 15.2 percent decrease in its finished steel output to 380,800 mt, and a 9.9 percent decrease in its crude steel production to 464,000 mt, both compared to the data for 2007.

Vyksa's production of pipes in 2008 amounted to 1.395 million mt - down 18.3 percent year on year, including 734,961 mt of large diameter pipes - down 22 percent. 

During the period in question, Gubakha Coke produced 484,200 mt of coke and processed 59,900 mt of coal tar pitch, recording an increase of 9.8 percent and 16.5 percent respectively compared with 2007.
