Novosibirsk Metallurgical Works named after Kuzmin (NMZK), a subsidiary of the Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding (ESTAR) and since July 2009 under the control of Russia's largest metal trader Metallservis Group (Metallservis), has announced that it is completing preliminary works on the installation of five-roller welding stands, carried out within the framework of the investment program for the modernization of its electric-welding pipe facilities.

The new welding stands will be installed at NMZK's electric-welding pipe mills 20-102 and 20-114 No.1, with the new equipment to be launched before the end of June 2010. The total investments in the project amounted to more than Ruble 5 million.

The new generation stands will enable NMZK to produce pipes with both thicker and thinner walls, which will also be of higher quality. Currently, such welding units are mostly used abroad and are rarely found at Russian plants.
