NLMK’s VIZ-Stal doubles output in first six months

VIZ-Stal, the Ekaterinburg-based subsidiary of the Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), has announced that in the first half of this year it doubled its steel product output compared to the same period last year to 69,300 mt, including 68,800 mt of transformer steel and 500 mt of dynamo steel.

Accordingly, in H1 2010, the share of high steel grades in the plant's overall production increased by two percent year on year to 99 percent.

VIZ-Stal stated that the year-on-year increase in its transformer steel output is due to the gradual revival of world market demand for this type of product, which, however, has not returned to pre-crisis levels yet.
