NLMK to increase HDG and coated steel capacities by end of 2010

By the end of the current year, the Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) will increase its capacities for the production of hot dip galvanized and coated steel.

Specifically, in autumn this year NLMK plans to commission its new hot dip galvanizing line No. 4 with a total annual capacity of 300,000 mt, while by the end of the current year it plans to launch its new color coating line No. 3 with an annual capacity of 200,000 mt. The testing of the color coating line will start as early as September.

In 2009, NLMK produced 350,000 mt of hot dip galvanized steel - down 22.2 percent year on year, and 333,000 mt of pre-painted steel - down 6.7 percent year on year.
