On December 24, Japanese steel giant Nippon Steel Corporation (Nippon Steel) has confirmed that the delivery of galvanized steel pipes, which had been suspended in the beginning of September has resumed since late September, 2010.
The company said that it has since taken measures to ensure stable manufacturing conditions and revised our inspection system, which resulted in the resumption of the deliveries.
Subject products in the Japanese market are announced as the following pipes ranging in size from 15A to 100A, galvanized at the continuous bud welding pipe mill of Kimitsu Works in or prior to August 2010: Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride lined steel pipes for water piping (SGP-VB) and Galvanized steel pipes for ordinary water piping (SGPW).
Nippon Steel said that the customers can continue to be used under normal usage conditions. Our customers in Japan are asked to contact us at the numbers given below should leaking or any other problem occur in the straight-pipe section of the subject products.
In September 1, Nippon Steel announced that, in connection with the company's suspension of galvanized steel pipe deliveries after galvanized steel pipes processed at its Kimitsu Works were discovered to be insufficiently galvanized, the Japan Water Works Association temporally suspended their on-site inspections at Kimitsu.
